Deep Dive – Thriving in an Uncertain Economy

Every Alaskan knows that our State is facing difficult times. Jobs are being lost, friends and neighbors are moving outside, homelessness seems on the rise, shelters are full, needs for human services are increasing while available resources are dwindling. Recent surveys indicate the majority of Alaskan’s are not confident in our economy nor are they optimistic about the future. Is such lack of confidence and optimism really warranted; especially among those who put their trust in Christ? How can we navigate an uncertain economy with wisdom and grace, honoring Jesus and offering hope to the community in which we live?On January 25, join Dan Jarrell and Luke Welles for this deep dive. Get educated as to what is really happing in our Alaskan economy and think biblically about how the Community of Jesus might respond. Luke Welles is a “Change Pointer” and a long-time student of the Alaskan economy. He has been a private business owner, the Chief Financial Officer for several tribal health organizations, and is now Sr. Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships for the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. Luke currently serves as chairman for the State of Alaska Municipal Bank, having been appointed to consecutive terms by Governors Palin, Parnell, Walker, and Dunleavy. Luke has a bachelor’s degree in foreign service/International Business from Baylor University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Oxford.
