DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. In Matthew 9:9 -17 the religious leaders are very upset over Jesus dining in Matthew's house. Why are they so upset? What must their expectation of Jesus have been for them to get so worked up about who he chose to eat with?
2. Look at the statement Jesus makes in 9:13. What do you think that statement means and why would it be difficult for the religious leaders to understand?
3. Jesus uses the metaphors of old cloth and an old wineskin to say something about the gospel of his kingdom (the new cloth and new wine). What do you think he is trying to say? Are there places in your life where you are trying to put new wine in old wineskins? If so, what are those places and what do you intend to do about it?
