DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. Describe a time when you believe you enjoyed the very best of something? What did that feel like? Did it leave you wanting more or did it leave you feeling satisfied?

2. In Matthew 6:1-18 Jesus speaks directly against "doing acts of righteousness to be seen by men." Compare and contrast people who seek righteousness for its own sake and those who do righteousness for the sake of recognition. How are they similar? How are they different? What do you think Jesus means when he says those who seek recognition "have received their reward in full?"

3. Have you ever fallen into the trap of "practicing righteousness before men to be recognized by them?" Why do you fall into that trap? What can we do to avoid falling into that trap?
